Noel Buck and Christian Makoun Receive International Call-Ups
Buck returns to the England U19s for friendly action while Makoun returns to Venezuela for World Cup Qualification action!
The wave of international call-ups in New England continued Friday as we learned midfielder Noel Buck and defender Christian Makoun received call-ups to their respective nations.
Buck was one of 24 names selected to join the England U19s in Spain for a trio of international friendlies. England begins November’s slate of games on November 15th as they face Romania at noon EST, followed by a meeting with Japan on the 18th at 8:00 AM EST before wrapping up the trip with a meeting against Mexico on the 21st at noon EST.
Buck has seen a meteoric rise internationally, as this marks his third call-up to the England U-19 squad. The Arlington, Massachusetts native ended the 2023 campaign with three goals and one assist in 32 appearances across all competitions.
Makoun returns to the international stage as he joins the Venezuelan National Team for a pair of World Cup Qualifying matches. Makoun and Venezuela get things started at home on November 16th as they host Ecuador before traveling to face Peru on the 21st.
Makoun has been a consistent presence with the Venezuelan National Team, as he’s had numerous call-ups with the squad throughout his tenure with the Revolution. Makoun’s appeared in 12 matches across all competitions in 2023, where he’s tallied one assist over 673 minutes.
Really strange that Makoun can handle intense CONMEBOL competition for Venezuela, yet can't even start/sub regularly in MLS. Have to think there's some real talent being squandered here.
