Three Interesting Clips From The Revolution's 1-0 Win Over Charlotte FC
Here’s a collection of clips that I found interesting.
The New England Revolution collected their first three points of the 2024 MLS season on Saturday when they bested Charlotte FC 1-0.
Here are three interesting clips from the game.
Carles Gil’s PK Shout
There were a couple of times on Saturday when Carles went to the ground without drawing the referee’s attention. Such was the case just before halftime.
The most notable moment came in the 89th minute when Carles appeared to be nudged while in the box.
Head coach Caleb Porter praised Carles after the game saying he had “a great finish” and “a really good game.”
While he didn’t name a particular moment, Porter also said, “Still not getting any calls, but yeah.”
Giacomo Vrioni’s Meg
Of course you want to see him on the scoresheet—something Porter mentioned in his presser—but Vrioni had a fine game on Saturday as he battled hard, held up the ball, and hit the crossbar with a header.
He also megged an opponent.
Matt Polster Calls For Esmir Bajraktervic
Earlier this season, Lucho Acosta scored on the Revs via a low, powerful free kick. Since then, the Revolution have regularly put a player behind the wall.
This clip shows Polster summoning Bajraktarevic to do the job before a late-game free kick.
That’s it! What do you think of the PK non-call? Any interesting moments that you remember? Let us know in the comments section.
Every time Carles gets touched he drops to the ground like some one shot him. Then either grabs his leg or sits there and waves to the ref. He has reputation of crying wolf to many times, so when it is a penalty it could get over looked.
Glad you mentioned the Vrioni nutmeg. My season tickets are right next to that corner of the field and it really looked good. Obviously it’d be nice for him to get a goal every game, but if he can provide assists and threats in their box I like that too.
