Tom Bogert from The Athletic has reported that former Austin FC head coach and current Houston Dynamo assistant coach Josh Wolff has been interviewed for the vacant head coaching position with the Revs.

Austin FC hired Wolff as the first manager in club history in 2019. During the club’s 2022 campaign, Wolff led the team to a second-place regular-season finish in the Western Conference and a playoff victory at home versus Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas en route to the first Western Conference Final appearance in club history.

Outside of the playoff appearance in 2022, Austin FC missed the playoffs in 2021, 2023, and 2024. Wolff’s tenure with Austin FC concluded with a combined four-year record of 45 wins, 30 draws, and 60 losses in MLS regular season matches.

After moving on from Wolff, Austin FC managed to make the playoffs, coming in sixth place in the Western Conference in 2025.

Sources told The Athletic that New England’s coaching search is at a middle stage, with candidates coming in-market for interviews but no final shortlist set yet.

WPRO’s Tommy Quinlan previously reported that Wolff interviewed for the job.
