2024 Leagues Cup Groups Announced
The Revolution will compete alongside Mazatlán F.C. and Nashville SC in East 5.
Major League Soccer and Liga MX will collide once again this summer as both clubs will meet in the second edition of Leagues Cup.
2023's Leagues Cup journey saw the New England Revolution grouped with MLS side New York Red Bulls and Liga MX side Atlético San Luis. After opening the group stage with a scoreless draw and shootout loss to NYRB, the Revolution returned to Gillette, where they secured a 5-1 victory over San Luis to give them second place and a spot in the knockout round.
The Revolution’s success continued into the knockout stage as they finished their Round of 32 match against Liga MX side Atlas with a 2-2 draw, which led to an 8-7 shootout victory. Their run in the competition ended in the Round of 16, as they suffered a 1-1 draw and 4-3 shootout loss to Querétaro.
In preparation for 2024's Leagues Cup, groups and competition guidelines were released Wednesday afternoon. Caleb Porter and the Revolution will compete in the East 5 group alongside Liga MX side Mazatlán F.C. and MLS side Nashville SC.
Nashville SC enters 2024’s competition after finishing second in their group after securing three points in matches against Colorado Rapids and Toluca. Nashville went on an incredible run as they picked up victories over FC Cincinnati, Club América, Minnesota United, and Monterey to book their ticket to the inaugural Leagues Cup Final. However, they fell to Inter Miami in a penalty shootout.
Mazatlán F.C. enters the 2024 competition after finishing atop their group featuring FC Juárez and Austin FC. Mazatlán’s run ended after they suffered a 2-1 loss to FC Dallas in the Round of 32.
Leagues Cup 2024 will see some changes from the inaugural edition. The biggest change is hub privileges for Liga MX sides. The Liga MX champion and the three top-ranked Liga MX clubs (based on Leagues Cup rankings) will receive hub privileges.
Club América (Liga MX champions) will have hub rights through the semifinals. C.F. Monterey (#1) will have hub privileges through the Round of 16. Chivas Guadalajara (#4) will have hub privileges through the Round of 32. Tigres (#6) will have hub privileges throughout the group stage.
Liga MX champions Club América and MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew receive an automatic bye into the Round of 32.
Venues for hub privileges will be released at a later date alongside the Leagues Cup schedule and bracket.
