MLS Announces All-Star Opponent
MLS and Liga MX will square off again, as both leagues battle for bragging rights in the 2024 MLS All-Star Game.
As Major League Soccer celebrates the start of the 2024 season, we now know who the league’s All-Stars will face in Columbus as the league announced the 2024 All-Star weekend will see MLS All-Stars face Liga MX All-Stars for the third time in four years.
All-Star week will kick off on July 23rd, as 10 members from both league’s All-Star teams will compete in the All-Stars Skill Challenge inside Lower.com Field at 7:30 PM ET on MLS Season Pass. The following day, July 24th, will see both All-Star squads fight for bragging rights, as they’ll meet for the 2024 All-Star Game inside Lower.com Field at 8:00 PM ET on MLS Season Pass.
Major League Soccer holds the historical advantage, as they hold two wins in their previous meetings in 2021 and 2022.
“Our previous encounters set high bars for intensity and competition in All-Star games. The 2024 edition will be a night to remember for Columbus’ passionate fans and for audiences around the world,” said Camilo Durana, MLS Executive Vice President of Properties and Events.
We’re still a distance away from the All-Star festivities, but it’s worth noting the 26-man roster will feature 12 picks from Columbus Crew’s Wilfried Nancy, 12 picks via a fan vote, and two selected by commissioner Don Garber.
