The MLS SuperDraft is nearing and the 2024 MLS College Showcase will feature plenty of familiar names to soccer fans in New England.
Starting with the local colleges, Lukas Burns (Providence College, GK), Kieran Chandler (UCONN, DEF), Ibrahim Conde (UNH, FW), Alec Hughes (UMASS, FW) all earned invites.
Additionally, Reid Fisher (San Diego State University, DEF) and Jackson Castro (Creighton University, MID) who played this past summer for USL League Two side Vermont Green FC earned invites. Conde and Hughes also played USL League Two soccer over the summer as Conde played for Seacoast United and Hughes for Western Mass Pioneers.
It seems quite likely that at least one of these players is selected in the draft. While all have the capability to, fans should keep an eye on Hughes and Fisher who appear ready to make the jump to MLS or MLS NEXT Pro.
The 2025 MLS SuperDraft will take place on Friday, Dec. 20.
