JD Gunn Excited to Represent Panama
Hear what the Revs II keeper had to say after being named to Panama's roster!
Revolution II goalkeeper JD Gunn received some exciting news on October 2nd, as he learned he was named to the Panama National Team roster ahead of a pair of international friendlies later this month.
Gunn says being able to represent Panama “means a lot” to him.
“I’m super excited for the opportunity,” he said. “I’ve worked really hard to get to this point, so hopefully I can make the most of it.”
This marked Gunn’s first call-up to the soccer team, but it’s not his first time representing Panama. Throughout his youth, Gunn represented Panama on the basketball court featuring for the nation’s U—15, U16, U-17, and U-18 levels at several international tournaments. Through 25 games, Gunn averaged 9.8 points, 6.6 assists, and 2.1 rebounds.
“It’s always awesome for anyone to represent their country in any sport, any type of way,” the goalkeeper said. “To be able to do it in two different sports is obviously something that not a lot of people will get to do. It’s a super cool experience to have played with the basketball team in the past and to now play with the soccer team, I hope that I can make my nation proud.”
Gunn and Panama will open the window when they face the United States on October 12 at 9:00 pm ET on TNT and Telemundo. October 15 will see Panama face Canada at 7:30 pm ET.
