The New England Revolution will be headed back to continental competition.
New England clinched a berth in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup following FC Dallas' 1-1 draw at Sporting Kansas City on Saturday. With that result, the Revolution are now guaranteed a top-four finish in the Supporters' Shield standings.
The 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup will feature 27 clubs across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. The tournament will crown the Confederation’s club champion and determine the third of four regional representatives that will qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup 2029.
New England does not have a great history in the modern version of the tournament. In 2024, the club made it to the quarterfinals before being dominated by Club América. Revs fans watched the Mexican giants score nine goals over the course of two legs.
In 2022, New England was eliminated by Pumas in the quarterfinals as well. The Revs went up 3-0 in the home leg before blowing the advantage down in Mexico. It was only the second time in the tournament's history that a team with a 3–0 lead in the first leg failed to advance.
Arguably the most infamous collapse was New England's loss in the preliminary round of the 2008 competition. The Revs suffered a stunning 4–0 home loss at Gillette Stadium to Trinidadian side Joe Public F.C., and suffered a 6-1 defeat on aggregate. It was the first time an MLS team ever lost a tournament match to a Caribbean club
New England had two more prior appearances in 2003 and 2006. The Revs were eliminated in the Round of 16 of the 2003 tournament while once again being eliminated in the quarterfinals.
