JAFONSO Wins 2024 eMLS Cup
The Revolution's newest eMLS player wins his second title with the club!
Revolution newcomer JAFONSO’s reign on eMLS continued on Sunday, as he became the first player in club history to hoist an eMLS Cup.
JAFONSO booked his ticket to the eMLS Cup competition at South by Southwest (SXSW) after winning the Revolution's first-ever eMLS title when he won League Series Two on March 4th.
His League Series Two victory led to a first-round bye as he awaited the winner of FC Dallas’ AlanAvi and NYRB’s doolsta. Jafonso squared off against AlanAvi and easily advanced following a 7-1 victory.
The Semifinal saw JAFONSO face NYCFC’s Olleilito. It was a little more competitive, but JAFONSO stood tall as he punched his ticket to the final with a 5-2 victory.
On the opposite side of the bracket, K1John made it to the final against JAFONSO after picking up a 4-3 win over Philadelphia Union’s ThiagoCapo12, a 8-4 win over Atlanta United’s Paulo Neto, and a 9-3 win over St. Lo
It was all gas, no brakes for JAFONSO in the final, as he held K1John scoreless and secured the eMLS Cup title with a dominant 6-0 victory.
It’s been an impressive start for the newest eMLS player. Since joining the club on December 28th, 2023, JAFONSO made the Quarterfinal of League Series One while winning the League Series Two and eMLS Cup titles.
While an eMLS Cup is big, something even bigger came for JAFONSO during Sunday’s competition, as the Revs eMLS player booked his ticket to the FC Pro World Championship, where he will face some of the best EA FC players from across the world, this June.
