Hartford Athletic Unveil Brand New Mascot
Named after Dillon Stadium, the former name of Trinity Health Stadium, the mascot looks to add to the match day experience in 2023.
Following a community outreach effort, Hartford Athletic have officially revealed the design and name of their brand new mascot ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season.
Gaining its name from the former name of Hartford’s home ground, the mascot, named Dillon, is designed to mimic the legendary ‘Glawackus’. Described as looking like something between a bear, panther, and a lion, the creature has only one recorded sighting in Connecticut dating back to 1939.
Dillon’s fur features Hartford’s famous green and blue colors, complete with a green mustache and soccer-ball antennas. A true embodiment of the Hartford spirit, he will be in attendance at Trinity Health Stadium for every Hartford home match this season.
According to Hartford Athletic Chairman Bruce Mandell, the mascot was created with Hartford’s younger fans in mind, as a part of their fan engagement program.
Dillon was created in collaboration with Raymond Entertainment Group, the same company that worked to create the current mascots of the Philadelphia Flyers, Miami Heat, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Season ticket holders had the first chance to meet Dillon at an event on Thursday. Today, he is scheduled to meet frontline workers at Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health of New England.
