Vermont Green FC added to its roster ahead of the club’s first-ever U.S. Open Cup match while an alumni of the USL League Two club signed a deal with Tacoma Defiance of MLS NEXT Pro.
The Green added Syracuse midfielder Carlos Zambrano to its 2024 roster. The midfielder will debut for the Orange in the fall. Zambrano tallied a total of 13 goals and 16 assists during his two seasons with the Daytona State Falcons.
Fans of the Green also saw inaugural season star Owen O’Malley sigh with Tacoma Defiance, the Seattle Sounders second team.
O’Malley joins the Defiance after being cut by St. Louis CITY SC, the club that drafted him ninth overall. He contributed three goals and two assists in 1140 minutes for the Green in his only summer in Vermont.
The former member of the Green will be looking for a fresh start as he was suspended twice for violating team rules while with St. Louis. It appears that O’Malley will primarily play wingback according to Sounders at Heart.
