Esmir Bajraktarević Makes PSV Debut
The former Revolution Homegrown clocks his first minutes of European football.
Saturday saw former New England Revolution Homegrown Esmir Bajraktarević make his European club debut when he subbed on for Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven in their loss to PEC Zwolle.
The Appleton, Wisconsin native subbed on in the 87th minute as PSV trailed 2-1.
Zwolle put the final nail in the coffin in stoppage time when Dylan Vente found the net to seal defeat for PSV.
It wasn’t the debut Bajraktarević had in mind, but he expressed his gratitude and committed to better results in the future on Instagram following the match.
“Not the result we wanted but happy to make my debut. We’ll come back stronger, he said.
Saturday marked Bajraktarević’s first appearance for the Dutch side since joining from the New England Revolution on January 2.
Bajraktarević and PSV return to action on January 21. as they face Serbian side FK Crvena Zvezda in UEFA Champions League action at 3:00 PM ET.
I'm glad he got his debut. That loss had nothing to do with him as they were already losing when he came on. Hopefully he comes on sooner next time and has a chance to have an impact.
