Esmir Bajraktarevic Helps Create Goal As US U-23s Draw Iraq U-23s
Bajraktarevic also hit the post.
Esmir Bajraktarevic was part of the build-up for a goal as the US U-23 team drew the Iraq U-23s 1-1 on Saturday.
Bajraktarevic earned a start and wore the number 11 while operating on the right side.
In the 30th minute, the New England Revolution midfielder combined well with Bryan Reynolds before finding Cole Bassett. Bassett then hit a cross that was headed home by Benja Cremaschi to give the US a 1-0 lead.
Bajraktarevic had another highlight reel moment in the 75th minute. After providing a sharp touch, the 18-year-old moved freely while awaiting a return pass. He ultimately received the ball at the top of the box, allowing him to rifle a left-footed shot that hit the crossbar.
Unfortunately for the US, Iraq found a late equalizer.
Bajraktarevic and his teammates will continue their preparation for this summer’s Olympic games when they play Morocco on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Kickoff is set for 9 am EST.
