Esmir Bajraktarević and DeJuan Called Into USMNT's January Camp
The duo will trek to Orlando for camp before traveling to San Antonio for a friendly against Slovenia on January 20th.
Defender DeJuan Jones and midfielder Esmir Bajraktarević got some good news Friday as the duo were two of 25 players named to Gregg Berhalter’s roster for January’s USMNT camp.
The Revs duo and the US squad will convene in Orlando, Florida, starting January 8th through the 16th. January’s camp will conclude with a trip to San Antonio, Texas, as the squad will host Slovenia on January 20th inside Toyota Field at 3:00 PM ET! January 20th’s match will be broadcast on TNT, Telemundo, Universo, MAX, and Peacock.
January’s camp marks DeJuan Jones’ fifth call-up to the national team. Since debuting in a January 25th, 2023 friendly against Serbia, Jones has gone on to tally three assists in his seven caps for the United States. Jones ended the 2023 campaign with one goal and five assists over 25 appearances.
January marks Bajraktarević's first senior team call-up. The 18-year-old ended the 2023 campaign with one goal over 16 appearances across all competitions with the first team.
Bajraktarević flourished with Revs II, as he tallied eight goals and one assist over nine appearances. 2023 also saw Esmir flourish with the US U23s as he netted one goal over four appearances.
Following the conclusion of the USMNT camp, Bajraktarević and Jones will return to New England as the Revs will begin preseason preparations, which includes a four-week camp in Florida that features four friendly matches.
Still no USMNT love for Buck? Or is he already committed to England at this point. If he isn’t, and GGG can’t/won’t find room for him at a January camp, then perhaps his gripes about not hearing from USSoccer were justified.
That said, very excited for DeJuan and Esmir!
