Dor Turgeman Is Already Making History In Major League Soccer
“It’s crazy, but you can see it’s not just the goal, but the way he scores. He’s a killer."
Dor Turgeman is already making history in Major League Soccer.
The Israeli striker scored his third goal in as many games when he nodded in a Carles Gil set piece in the 96th minute of Saturday’s 2-2 draw against the Chicago Fire.
He is now the 10th player in MLS history, and the first in New England Revolution history, to score a goal in each of his first three MLS games.
“Yeah, obviously, three goals in three games,” Gil said. “It’s crazy, but you can see it’s not just the goal, but the way he scores. He’s a killer. Maybe he arrived too late, but it is what it is. And obviously he’s a very good player, a young player, so he’s important for the club.”
Turgeman signed with the Revs via the U22 Initiative on Aug. 20, after collecting 32 goals and 10 assists in 114 appearances with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
He made his MLS debut on Sept. 27, coming off the bench to provide a goal and assist in a 2-0 win over Atlanta United.
“I think his quality is something we’ve been missing,” Alhassan Yusuf said. “He’s direct, his link-up play [is good], and everything.”
Turgeman has started to establish a relationship with Leo Campana, with the duo providing several positive moments in their two starts up top in the 3-5-2.
While Campana joked that Turgeman needs to learn English—which garnered laughs—he’s enjoyed playing with him so far.
The hope is that a full preseason will lead to more goals, especially since the Revs were 11th in the Eastern Conference in this category in 2024 (44).
“He’s a good player,” Campana said. “I feel good playing with Dor, with Chanca (Tomas Chancalay), with Luca [Langoni], with Capi. I hope we can accomplish good things with him, or the other ones, in the future. We have been praying for the goals, and I hope we can keep it that way next year.”
