Donovan Parisian Describes Delightful Debut
Hear what the debuting keeper had to say after helping Revs II secure their third-straight clean sheet!
Revolution II’s 4-0 win over Toronto FC II was a big day for Donovan Parisian as it marked his professional debut.
The former University of San Diego keeper took the first step in his professional career on December 20, 2024, when the New England Revolution selected the 20-year-old with the 18th overall pick in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft. Parisian put pen to paper on January 3, signing a deal with the first team through the 2026 season with options for 2027 and 2028.
Friday's debut was a solid performance for the goalkeeper. He tallied nine recoveries, won two aerial duels, and made two saves to secure his first professional clean sheet.
“Lots of hard work and sacrifice has been put in,” Parisian said after the match. “Lots of blessings in my life to be able to get here.”
When talking about his transition from college to the pros, Parisian emphasized his nervousness at first, which quickly faded away thanks to comradery in the goalkeeping core.
“I was honestly scared at first,” he said. “As soon as I got here, I loved them. They’re funny, they’re encouraging. It’s not hostile. We’re always pushing for each other. We’re praising each other. We’re cracking jokes. It’s the most fun I’ve had.”
Clean sheets are sweet figuratively and literally in New England as they lead to doughnuts to celebrate. It’s something Donovan expressed excitement following Friday’s win.
“I’m excited. I love doughnuts, but only on a special occasion,” the goalkeeper said.
His go-to doughnut is “The long and twisty glazed ones.” Parisian also described his recent discovery of maple bacon doughnuts.
“I recently had a maple bacon one,” he said. “It was cool, but I think it was a bit too much. A bit too heavy on the gut, but it was good.”
For Parisian and Revolution II’s sake, let’s hope doughnut celebrations will be a common occurrence through the remainder of 2025.
