Christian Makoun Called Up to Venezuela National Team

Makoun will join Venezuela for a pair of FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September!

Christian Makoun will return to the Venezuelan National Team as the 23-year-old defender joins the squad for upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches in September.

Venezuela travels to face Colombia on September 7th before traveling to Paraguay on September 12th. 

Makoun has six caps with the senior Venezuelan National Team, where he’s notched one assist. He had 23 previous appearances with Venezuela’s youth squads. 

The Revolution defender has appeared in nine contests across all competitions, where he’s notched one assist over 655 minutes. Makoun recently returned to training after suffering a leg injury during his last stint with Venezuela. Makoun appeared on the bench for the August 26th meeting with Montreal and the August 30th meeting with NYRB but did not appear in either match.

Makoun will remain with the Revolution for this weekend’s meeting with Austin F.C. before traveling to join head coach Fernando Batista and the Venezuela National Team.
