Bruce Arena Placed on Administrative Leave
The New England Revolution have placed Arena on administrative leave as a result of an ongoing investigation.
It looks like the New England Revolution will be without Bruce Arena for the foreseeable future as the club announced that he would be put on administrative leave while he is being investigated by MLS.
“The New England Revolution organization has placed Coach Arena on administrative leave as a result of an ongoing investigation being conducted by Major League Soccer into allegations of insensitive and inappropriate remarks,” a statement from the club read. “The organization takes any allegations of workplace misconduct extremely seriously and is working closely with the League and fully cooperating with its investigation.”
Paul Tenorio, Tom Bogert, and Pablo Maurer of The Athletic also revealed that Richie Williams and Curt Onalfo will be taking over while Arena is on leave and that the head coach and sporting director has been absent since Sunday when players were informed about the investigation. Players were also told that it was not related to a health issue according to The Athletic.
At the minimum, it appears that New England will be without their head coach and sporting director for Thursday’s Leagues Cup match against Atlas but it remains to be seen how long the investigation will last.
Any idea of a timeline to resolve this based on previous similar incidents with MLS?
Oh geez! I hope this is resolved quickly
