Brad Knighton Named Revolution II Goalkeeper Coach
The former Revs netminder joins Revs II following a 16-year playing career and coaching stints in the Revolution Academy.
The New England Revolution II coaching staff saw a new addition Wednesday afternoon when the club announced Brad Knighton was named the new goalkeepers coach.
The role opened on October 21st when Revolution II original Yuta Nomura announced his departure from the club.
Knighton’s appointment to the Revolution II comes after a 16-year career with the Carolina Railhawks, Richmond Kickers, New England Revolution, Portland Timbers, and Vancouver Whitecaps, where he made 153 appearances.
Ironically enough, Knighton’s time in New England saw him suit up twice for Revolution II in their 2021 USL League One campaign.
Since announcing his retirement on January 4th, 2023, Knighton has been an integral part of the Revolution Academy, where he served as head coach for several Revs youth squads.
Most notably, Knighton guided the Revolution U-19 squad to a second-consecutive MLS NEXT Cup title in 2023.
Brad Knighton’s addition to the Revolution II coaching will go a long way in helping the development of JD Gunn, Max Weinstein, and future Revs II goalkeepers.Â
Seems like a good choice to bring along Hithcock’s methods.
