Ben Reveno loaned to Birmingham Legion FC
The second-year defender will spend the entire 2023 USL Championship season in Birmingham.
New England Revolution center back Ben Reveno is on the move for the time being as the club announced that the MLS SuperDraft pick had joined USL Championship side Birmingham Legion FC on loan for the entirety of the 2023 USL Championship season.
Reveno was the Revolution's 52nd overall pick from the 2022 MLS SuperDraft and signed a professional contract with New England Revolution II in February of 2022. Reveno appeared in 20 matches for Revs II in 2022, where he clocked 1,523 minutes.
Reveno jumped to the first team on July 1st, 2022, when he signed a one-year contract with two additional option years. Reveno only appeared in one match for the Revs, as he played one minute on June 19th's 2-1 victory over Minnesota United.
Reveno was one of the nine players to have their contract options exercised for 2023 on October 13th, 2022. Reveno made the trek to Florida, where he appeared in preseason contests for the Revs and Revs II.
Birmingham Legion FC has been a landing spot for Revolution prospects over the years. Some notable names include Zachary Herivaux and Brian White. A big part of the relationship between the two clubs comes down to one man, Jay Heaps. Heaps, the Legion’s current President and General Manager, served as the Revolution’s head coach from 2011 to 2017 after spending nine seasons as a Revolution player.
With Reveno’s move to Birmingham, expect the young defender to get some crucial playing time and development under Heaps over the 34-game USL Championship season.
