5 Prospects Revs Should Select in 2025 MLS SuperDraft

Friday, December 20, sees NCAA soccer stars take the next step in their professional careers as Major League Soccer conducts its annual SuperDraft.
Thanks to their 9-21-4 record in 2024, the Revolution holds the 5th, 35th, and 65th overall picks in Friday’s draft. The Revolution were inactive during the 2024 draft as they dealt their three picks to Minnesota United in exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money.
As we approach Friday’s draft, here are five prospects I would love to see the Revolution select when they’re on the clock.
Yaniv Bazini - Forward - University of Vermont
The senior forward comes into the SuperDraft after a tremendous run in the recent NCAA College Cup tournament. A run that saw Bazini notch a staggering six goals as the Catamounts overcame every obstacle in their path, going on to secure the school’s first-ever National Championship.
On top of the recent National Championship, Bazini’s efforts earned him a spot on the All-Tournament team.
His collegiate career began in 2021 when he joined North Carolina State. Bazini appeared in 16 games for the Wolfpack and tallied two goals and two assists over 596 minutes.
Following 2021, Bazini made the trek north to the University of Vermont. Bazini appeared in 66 matches for the Catamounts and notched 31 goals and nine assists over 4,591 minutes. Bazini’s time in Vermont saw him secure individual awards, including 2022 American East All-Conference Second Team, 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-Northeast First Team, 2023 American East All-Conference First Team, 2024 American East All-Tournament First Team, and 2024 American East All-Conference First Team honors.
Considering Bazini’s offensive prowess and capability to win, Bazini is a prospect the Revs should have high on their list heading into the draft.
Alec Hughes - Forward - University of Massachusetts
This is Hughes' second time on my list. I had the UMass forward on my list heading into 2024’s SuperDraft. Despite being slated to be selected 14th overall in the mock draft, Hughes surprisingly went undrafted in 2024.
Hughes spent the summer with local USL League Two side Western Massachusetts Pioneers, where he engraved his name to the 2024 league’s Best XI after netting a league-high 17 goals.
After the summer, the now-graduate student returned to UMass, where he ended the year with 15 goals and an assist as UMass secured a spot in the NCAA College Cup.
Like Bazini, Hughes had a decent run in the NCAA College Cup tournament. After finding the net in back-to-back games to open the tournament, UMass secured a 1-0 shutout victory to advance to the Quarterfinals, where they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Denver.
Hughes appeared in a staggering 87 matches for the Minutemen, where he tallied 51 goals and eight assists. His time with UMass also saw him rack up individual honors, which included Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Atlantic 10 in his freshman season. Hughes also received the 2022 Atlantic 10 Co-Offensive Player of the Year, 2022 First Team All-Atlantic 10, 2022 United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team, and 2023 Atlantic-10 Offensive Player of the Year honors.
It’s no secret that Hughes can put the ball into the net, a skill both the first and second teams could need following their respective 2024 campaigns. The 6’4” forward could be a pivotal attacking piece to the organization for years to come.
Taig Healy - Midfielder - North Carolina State
The South Hampton, New Hampshire native enters the SuperDraft following two seasons at the University of New Hampshire and one year at North Carolina State.
During his two seasons at UNH, Healy appeared in 25 matches where he notched four goals and four assists over 1,078 minutes. His time in the Granite State saw him make the 2022 American East All-Rookie team and an American East Offensive Player of the Week award on October 16, 2023.
2024 saw Healy change scenery as he joined North Carolina State. In his lone season with the Wolfpack, Healy tallied six goals and six assists over 18 appearances.
After ending the season with a 10-5-5 record, Healy and NC State earned a spot in the NCAA College Cup. Despite only making it to the third round, Healy had a good tournament as he tallied three assists across three games, which included two against Georgetown.
Healy is a gifted midfielder who can create chances or be on the finishing end of them. Something the organization, especially Revolution II, struggled with in 2024.
Ashton Kamdem - Defender - University of Akron
The West Chester, Ohio native enters the SuperDraft after tallying three goals and seven assists over 55 appearances during his three seasons with the Zips.
After ending the year with a 12-5-4 record, Kamdem and Akron secured a spot in the College Cup. Kamden clocked 176 minutes during Akron's brief run in the tournament that saw Akron secure a 1-0 win over Princeton before suffering a 2-1 loss to Indiana in the second round.
Kamden is no stranger to the MLS system. He was once a part of the FC Cincinnati Academy and appeared in 13 matches for FC Cincinnati 2 during the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season and clocked a staggering 1,038 minutes.
Considering his experience at the college and professional level, Kamdem could be a big pick-up for the organization, which struggled defensively in 2024.
Kieran Chandler - Defender - University of Connecticut
While only a sophomore, the Simsbury, Connecticut native has been a regular for the Huskies. Through his first two seasons, he’s appeared in 24 matches with 21 starts. Chandler has tallied five assists over 1,627 minutes.
Chandler started in all 18 of UConn's matches in 2024, as the Huskies only allowed 13 goals, which is the fewest goals allowed in Division I.
Thanks to the revamped SuperDraft rules, Chandler would have the option to continue his collegiate career at UConn while he further develops. Chandler is a prospect worth taking a chance on in the later rounds.
It would be so cool to get a forward that ends up working out for us in the SuperDraft. Is there any way to watch/follow along with the draft?
