Club Atlético Independiente de La Chorrera: History: Commonly referred to as CAI, CA Independiente was founded in 1982 and began play in local community leagues.

After years of gradual progress, Independiente put themselves on the map in the 1999-2000 season when they won the Rommel Fernández Cup following a 3-1 win over Zona Libre FC, which led to them earning promotion to Primera A (second division).
