FOXBOROUGH – The New England Revolution suffered a 2-0 loss to the Houston Dynamo on Saturday but the club avoided a loss that would have been greater than just a lack of three points.
In the 63rd minute Jack McGlynn sent a curling corner kick into the box and Agustin Resch rose above the Revolution defense and headed the ball into the back of the net to give Houston a 2-0 lead.
Goalkeeper Matt Turner landed awkwardly on his shoulder and had to receive medical attention.
Luckily for New England, Turner managed to stay in the game and even wound up making a few crucial saves to keep the Revs in the match.
"Everything's all right," Turner said in the locker room postgame. "Just an awkward fall is more scary than anything in the moment, but everything's stable and it'll be fine for what's to come."
Turner spoke with Revolution head coach Marko Mitrovic after the game and reiterated a similar message, but New England's head coach noted that they will monitor Turner over the course of the next few days to ensure that something more serious reveals itself.
"I don't think it's something serious," Mitrovic said. "Always, in the next day there’s something that you learn, a day after the game the best [about] how he feels. But it seems like he’s in a good spot.”
Turner has been one of New England's most important players in 2026. He has made 80 saves and leads the league with 6.9 goals prevented.
If Turner was to miss anytime, the revs would be in big trouble. While Donovan Parisian and J.D. Gunn are highly touted youngsters, throwing them into MLS matches rather unexpectedly would be a massive challenge for either one of them.
