Revolution II were dealt a massive blow before they even took the pitch at Beirne Stadium to face Eastern Conference frontrunners Columbus Crew 2, as we learned defender Jared Smith was set to miss extended time due to an unfortunate knee injury.

After clocking a full 90 minutes in the disappointing loss to Union II last Sunday, we learned that Smith has suffered a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee that will require him to undergo surgery.

Following his surgery, Smith is expected to miss six to eight weeks of action, which means we likely won’t be seeing the standout defender until September.

Smith has been an asset for Revs II ever since signing on March 25, as he’s notched a goal over 680 minutes and has filled in nicely at the left back position during Schinieder Mimy’s absence.

Revolution II returns to action tonight at 7:00 PM when they host Columbus Crew 2 at Beirne Stadium.
