CT United FC’s roster build continued on Friday as the club announced the acquisitions of Steven Sserwadda and Ibrahim Kasule on one-year loans from fellow MLS NEXT Pro side New York Red Bulls II.
Sserwadda, a 21-year-old midfielder, joins CT United FC after spending the last five seasons with NYRB II, dating back to the club’s time in the USL Championship, tallying four goals and three assists in 63 appearances.
Sserwadda’s time in New York has also seen him get time with the Red Bulls’ first team, clocking 33 minutes in three appearances.
The midfielder’s success in New York has led to him breaking through on the international stage. The Kampala native has six caps with the Ugandan National Team dating back to 2022.
Kasule, a 21-year-old midfielder, joins CT United FC after spending the last three seasons, tallying 28 goals and 11 assists in 63 appearances.
Since joining NYRB II, Kasule has received two MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Month awards (July 2023 and March 2024) and also earned a spot on the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Best XI after finishing his debut season with 15 goals and five assists.
Like Sserwadda, Kasule’s time with Red Bulls II has led to him breaking through on the international stage. The Buikwe native made his debut and lone cap with the Ugandan National Team on June 10th, 2024, clocking two minutes off the bench in a 2-1 loss to Algeria in World Cup Qualifying action.
The duo arrives in Connecticut following a successful 2025 season, leading NYRB II to the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro title.
