Alba Caño has signed a contract extension through 2029, the team announced Friday.

Originally signed through 2027 with a team option for 2028, the 23-year-old has become a stalwart in the midfield.

She is one of two players (alongside Annie Karich) who have started all 28 games this season. She has scored four goals and is sixth in the league for chances created (44).

“I’m really excited to renew and continue to be part of this project. I believe in what we are building here, and I want to keep working to create and better it,” Caño said. “I’m really looking forward to our future together because I know we can and will do great things.”

Caño was the fifth player signed to the team and previously grew up in FC Barcelona’s academy system. She captained the Barcelona B team and also made four starts for the senior team during the 2024-2025 season, recording one goal and an assist.

“Alba has been an integral part of our team throughout our inaugural season. Since arriving from Europe, she has adapted seamlessly to the demands of the NWSL, showing a level of maturity and consistency beyond her years. Her technical ability, intelligence and composure have been key within our midfield, and she represents the type of player we want to build around as we continue to develop this club,” said Edward Gallagher, BLFC technical director. “Even with her strong start here in Boston, we firmly believe that some of her best football is still ahead of her. We are delighted that she has committed her future to Boston Legacy and look forward to seeing her continue to grow and establish herself as one of the leading midfielders in the NWSL.”
