The New England Revolution could be adding to its midfield as reports from Isreal indicate that Maccabi Haifa midfielder Ali Mohamed could come stateside.

Igal Goldshtein of Sports Channel 5 reported that New England is interested in the 28-year-old midfielder that Goldshtein described as one of the most important players on Maccabi Haifa’s roster.

Mohamed has tallied two assists in 51 games this season for the Israeli club. In total, he has 149 appearances for Maccabi Haifa, scoring twice and adding 11 assists. The midfielder has also made 38 appearances for Niger on the international stage and has tallied two assists.

According to Goldshtein, Mohamed doesn’t have a release clause in his contract. Mohamed plays a more defensive role in the midfield, meaning that he would be competing with the likes of Matt Polster, Mark-Anthony Kaye, Ian Harkes, and Noel Buck for minutes if he was to arrive in New England.
