Pablo Moreira and Revolution II returned to action on Sunday as they welcomed last-placed FC Cincinnati 2 to Beirne Stadium!

Sunday saw Pablo Moreira make two changes from the lineup that secured two points following a scoreless draw and a shootout victory over Toronto FC II. First team goalkeeper JD Gun started in goal behind the backline of Schinieder Mimy, Chris Mbaï-Assem, Jake Shannon, and Damario McIntosh. Javaun Mussenden, Judah Siqueira, and Homegrown Eric Klein formed the midfield three behind the attacking trio of Makai Wells, Cristiano Oliveira, and Jayden Da.

Things got off to an incredible start for New England as the 7th minute saw a series of give-and-go passes between Mussenden and Mimy, which led to Mimy tapping the ball perfectly into the path of a darting Makai Wells, who one-timed the ball past Fabian Mrozek and in to give New England an early 1-0 lead. McIntosh came close to doubling Revolution II’s lead in the 33rd minute when he got under a perfectly placed cross from Mimy, but didn’t put enough power on it as Mrozek got both hands to it.

Moreira’s first change of the day came in the 57th minute as Carlos Zambrano replaced Siqueira. Three changes then came in the 69th minute as Myles Morgan, Sharod George, and Allan Oyirwoth replaced Wells, Da, and Mussenden.

Cincinnati clawed its way back into the game in the 86th minute after a series of passes led Michael Sullivan to tap the ball into the path of an advancing Charlie Holmes, who slotted the ball past Gunn and into the net to level the match at one apiece. That score line didn’t stay intact for long as a New England attack in the 88th minute led to Mimy driving into the box and attempted to slot the ball centrally. Mimy’s attempted pass clipped off the boot of Sami Lachekar and redirected into the back of the net as New England took the late 2-1 lead thanks to the Cincinnati own goal,

It took a little bit of luck and misfortune on Cincinnati’s end, but Revolution II were able to hold on as they secured their first win of the 2026 season and the first in the Pablo Moreira Era as they picked up the 2-1 victory at home.

New England Revolution II will look to keep the early-season momentum rolling when the club returns to action next Sunday, March 22 when the first-ever regional rivalry meeting takes place as CT United FC pays a visit to Beirne Stadium.
