I’ve been covering soccer in New England since 2013. It’s a labor of love that has afforded me cherished memories, insightful discussions, and valuable lessons. One lesson I’ve learned through the years is that building something takes a lot of time.

In our third year under The Blazing Musket branding, we offered more articles, writers, and podcasts than ever before. We saw an increase in our free and paid subscribers, and our private Discord continues to grow. Those things go hand in hand, as the support from our readers and listeners strengthens our site.

Several talented people cover the New England soccer scene, each providing a critical voice to a burgeoning community. Those who spend countless hours covering the game locally are needed as we look to give soccer the attention it deserves.

At The Blazing Musket, we continue to strive to become the go-to hub for New England soccer. Our staff has worked tirelessly to deliver timely, in-depth analysis in a region where soccer has grown rapidly in recent years.

In 2025, our site produced over 1,300 articles, including:

  • 520 about the New England Revolution
  • 136 about New England Revolution II
  • 125 about Portland Hearts of Pine
  • 121 about Hartford Athletic
  • 86 about Rhode Island FC
  • 72 about Boston Legacy FC
  • 58 about Vermont Green FC

Our coverage included following two championship teams as Vermont Green won the USL League Two National Championship and Hartford Athletic won the Jagermeister Cup. We also wrote breaking stories, exclusive interviews, opinion columns, subscriber mailbags, and staff roundtables. In case you missed it, our 2025 year-end wrap-up will bring you up to speed on the major highlights.

For us, our 2025 was impressive, but we want to do even more in 2026, the year that Marko Mitrovic comes to Foxboro, the Legacy join the NWSL, Rhode Island FC and Hartford Athletic write the next chapter in their rivalry, Portland Hearts of Pine try to top an impressive inaugural season, and Vermont Green attempt to fend off Seacoast United Phantoms and Western Mass Pioneers. Oh, and the men’s World Cup returns to the United States for the first time since 1994.

Soccer is continuing to grow in New England, and we want to grow with it.

To be the site we want to be, we need you. We’re happy that so many of you have joined us since The Blazing Musket became an independent site in 2022. Your clicks, likes, and comments make our community what it is.

To be blunt, the best way to support us is to become a paid subscriber to our site.

As a paid subscriber, five dollars a month–or $60 a year upfront–gives you access to exclusive articles, a weekly mailbag, our private discord, and more. Subscriber fees help us fund the day-to-day costs of our growing, in-person coverage throughout New England.

For those who want to do more, we offer a "Backer" level. We also invite organizations to contact us about advertising opportunities.

There’s no question that progress takes time and that outlets are increasingly moving behind paywalls. But if you value our coverage, now is the perfect time to up your membership by becoming a paid subscriber of The Blazing Musket.

Thank you to everyone who reads and supports our site. Here’s to a great 2026.
