Portland Hearts of Pine have strengthened their back line with the addition of former Charlotte FC defender Adam Armour.
Armour began his career in the North Carolina FC academy, signing his first deal in 2019 and earning a second academy contract in early 2020 before moving to Germany that summer to turn professional with 1. FC Nümberg in 2021. He returned to the United States to join expansion side Charlotte ahead of the club’s inaugural season and was later loaned to Charlotte Independence, then competing in the USL Championship.
In 2022, Armour made club history by scoring Charlotte FC’s first-ever goal against Atlanta United, but knee injuries stalled his development in Charlotte. Waived in 2023, he finished that season with FC Tulsa before suffering another season-ending knee injury.
After spending 2024 without a club, Armour revived his career in Germany with Eintracht Nordhorn, helping the side earn promotion before signing a contract with Portland for the 2026 season.
Internationally, Armour represented the United States U-17 national team, earning 19 caps after debuting against India in 2018 and appearing in the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Armour was part of Portland’s early season training in Bermuda and saw significant minutes in the club’s exhibition against Clemson.
