What We Learned About The New England Revolution In Week One
Clips, quotes, and analysis from Matchday One.
The New England Revolution opened the 2025 MLS regular season with a scoreless draw against Nashville SC.
Head coach Caleb Porter started his post-game press conference by saying, “It’s interesting, because this group has very high standards, and I would say that the way they feel right now is not satisfied, which I love. That’s what you want. You want a team that wants to win every game.
“But I think they also know that when you come on the road and you don’t find a goal, that you will take a draw. Especially, I love that we’re building from a strong defensive foundation.
“For us to get a clean sheet on the road, we didn’t do that very many games last year. Last year, this is probably a loss. So, what I see out of the group today in terms of mentality, in terms of strength, in terms of being steady – and really, in the end, we’re the ones pushing to try to win, which I loved.”
I thought Saturday’s performance and result were completely acceptable.
Carles Gil was the only Revs starter who also started last year’s season opener. The starting lineup also featured six players brought in during the off-season.
To get a draw, which they only had four of last year, and a clean sheet, which they only had five of last year, on the road was a fine way to start 2025.
The performance itself was also something to build off of.
Let’s take a closer look!
