Weekly Roundup: Hartford Adds Two Players, Rhode Island Re-sign Fuson
Revs add to fullback competition, Hearts of Pine midfielder receives international call-up
In a busy week for New England soccer, three teams made signings, starting from the top of the pyramid with the Revs.
New England Revolution
In a deal that was reportedly in the works for quite some time, the New England Revolution put pen to paper with the addition of Ilay Feingold. The 20-year-old Israeli right-back will take a U-22 Initiative slot for the club and create ample competition with Brandon Bye, who, with the exception of a knee injury last season, has held the starting position for quite some time. Feingold joins from Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli Premier League on a deal through the 2027 season with a club option for 2028.
In other Revs news, the final two matches of the 2025 preseason will be streamed on the team website. The first game will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against Atlanta United in Florida. The second match will be at Gillette Stadium and is open to season ticket members when the Revs host Hartford Athletic on February 15 to round out the preseason.
Rhode Island FC
Moving to the USL Championship, where RIFC resigned a crucial piece to its 2024 Eastern Conference winning side. Noah Fuson, who led the league in assists, will stay in the Ocean State on a multi-year contract. Fuson’s 18-goal contributions led the team last season.
Hartford Athletic
Hartford made its third and fourth signings of the offseason this week.
After missing the playoffs in 2024, Hartford Athletic looks to refresh its attack with the signing of Adewale Obalola. The Nigerian most recently played for Ekranas of the Lithuanian second tier, where he led the team in goals.
In addition to bolstering the front line, Hartford added to its back line this week when it inked USL Championship veteran Adrián Diz Pe. The 30-year-old Cuban joins the club from Indy Eleven, where he was a second-team all-league selection in 2023.
Portland Hearts of Pine
Poon-Angeron Receives International Call-Up
Poon-Angeron was the first signing in Portland Hearts of Pine history, joining the club from AC Port of Spain in December. Now, he becomes the first player under contract with the club to get called in for international duty. Poon-Angeron will represent Trinidad and Tobago for two friendlies against Jamaica in February.
