Vermont Green FC Star Diba Nwegbo Signs With Birmingham Legion FC
The Green will have a large hole to fill
Vermont Green FC fans were dealt some bittersweet news as Diba Nwegbo signed a professional contract with Birmingham Legion FC of the USL Championship.
Nwegbo was a star of USL League Two in Vermont’s debut season with nine goals in 12 games for The Green. He continued to excel during his collegiate season as he scored three goals but also had eight assists for William & Mary.
“We are excited to sign Diba to his first professional contract here in Birmingham as he has ties to the area having played club ball for Alabama FC,” said Jay Heaps, Legion FC president and general manager. “He’s a talented attacking player with great potential that will come in and make an impact on our forward line.”
Nwegbo has already found the scoresheet with his new team as he participated in a preseason friendly versus Charlotte FC where he secured a goal and an assist.
