Uncharacteristic Display Sees Revolution II Drop Three Points In Home Finale
An off day sees New England suffer a tough loss at home.
Friday afternoon saw Richie Williams and New England Revolution II take the field at Gillette Stadium for the final time in the 2025 regular season as they welcomed an already-eliminated Crown Legacy FC side.
Williams made six changes from the squad that suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road to Carolina Core FC last Sunday. Donovan Parisian returned between the sticks behind the backline of Hesron Barry, Victor Souza, Gabe Dahlin, and Damario McIntosh. Marcos Dias, Cristiano Oliveira, and Javaun Mussenden formed the midfield trio behind the attacking trio of Gevork Diarbian, Malcolm Fry, and Liam Butts.
Butts came close to notching a historic 12th goal of the season in the 49th minute. After driving into the box, Marcos Dias tapped a ball forward that Butts attempted to run onto, but couldn’t get to it in time as Walker dove onto the ball to end New England’s dangerous chance.
Parisian came up big in the 49th minute when he got his hands to Berchimas’ shot from atop the 18-yard box. The goalkeeper was put to work again in the 50th minute when he dove to save Mikah Thomas’ shot from close range.
Williams went to the bench in the 68th minute to make four changes. Michael Tsicoulias, Grant Emerhi, Damorney Hutchinson, and Joe Buck came on to replace Barry, McIntosh, Butts, and Mussenden.
Some poor defending nearly cost New England big time in the 73rd minute. After driving up the right flank, Emmanuel Uchegbu evaded the reach of four Revs II players and cut into the box to find himself one-on-one with Parisian. With Parisian coming off his line, Uchegbu attempted to slot the ball centrally to Andrej Subotic. Dahlin was there to intercept the pass and prevent Crown Legacy from finding an easy goal to grasp the lead.
After having his earlier chance extinguished by Dahlin, Subotic came up big for Crown Legacy in the 76th minute. A series of passes led the ball to the feet of Berchimas, who tapped it into the box and into the path of Subotic, who quickly rocketed a shot goalward. Souza attempted to slide into the ball’s path, but did not get there in time as the ball soared past Parisian and into the net to give the road team the late 1-0 lead.
New England’s final change of the day came in the 85th minute when Sharod George replaced Gevork Diarbian.
After going undefeated in seven games, Revs II suffered their second consecutive loss as Andrej Subotic’s strike marked the lone goal as Crown Legacy ended its 2025 campaign with a 1-0 win on the road.
A disappointing evening at the office for Revs II as their chance of leapfrogging to the second seed in the East was squandered thanks to the loss.
New England will conclude its 2025 regular season on the road next Sunday when Revs II travel to Chase Stadium to face Inter Miami CF II at 1 PM.
