Tomas Chancalay Out For "At Least The Next Couple Weeks"
Another blow to the 2024 New England Revolution
Things continue to get worse for the New England Revolution as head coach Caleb Porter has revealed that Tomas Chancalay will be out for "at least the next couple weeks.”
The head coach did indicate that there is still some evaluation that needs to be done in terms of Chancalay’s injury.
While struggling for consistency, there is no doubt that the winger is one of New England’s best attacking options. After early success in CONCACAF Champions Cup play, Chancalay has two goals and an assist in league play.
With Chancalay missing some time, Dylan Borrero and Esmir Bajraktarevic are expected to receive plenty of minutes moving forward. The issue for the Revolution is that Bajraktarevic will be headed to U.S. Olympic squad camp after this weekend’s match against Nashville. With no Bajraktarevic, Ema Boateng will likely get a start as well in the following match against the New York Red Bulls.
So what once seemed like New England’s deepest position is now in a state of crisis. Just when you think that things can’t get worse for the Revolution, it somehow manages to.
Wish we had Panayotou as an option.
Buck has played some wing also - maybe this can be a way to get him back in.
