TBM Roundtable: One Soccer-Related Thing We Are Thankful For
The staff of The Blazing Musket lists one thing that soccer fans can be thankful for this year
It’s that time of the year when turkey is all over tables and that other pesky football is being played on Thursday.
With Thanksgiving coming up, the staff of The Blazing Musket will list a soccer-related thing they are thankful for this year.
Sam - USMNT vs Germany
The Blazing Musket had the pleasure of covering the USMNT match against Germany and it truly was an amazing experience.
We got to see Matt Turner make his return to New England while also getting the experience of covering my first USMNT game (not the case for hotshot photographer
who is a USMNT veteran). It was also a pleasure to get to chat with DeJuan Jones as well as ask PSG legend Tim Weah some questions. I try not to take these experiences for granted as it is truly a blessing that I get to live out my dream as a child of covering sports.
Jamie - Playoffs
The one thing I’m thankful for is the playoffs. The Revs may be out but it’s still such a consistently high level of entertainment and drama that I can’t wait to resume.
For me, staying up late here in England to watch these high-scoring, end-to-end games is a real treat and it rivals the EFL playoffs as the peak of domestic club football for me.
(Editor's Note: Please welcome Jamie to the TBM team! He will be pitching in on these roundtables)
Greg - Our Subscribers
While it’s tough to find things that I’m thankful for on the pitch, there’s plenty I can be thankful for off the pitch.
The beginning of 2023 started with Vox pulling their support of the SB Nation MLS sites and Sam, Seth, and Dolan scrambled to make sure TBM’s coverage got off the ground in a timely enough fashion that you didn’t even notice we were gone.
But throughout the year, we have felt the love from the people who have supported the site to keep it afloat. On top of that I’ve enjoyed the interaction with TBM’s subscribers through mailbags, the subscriber chat, and these mailbags (Yes, even those comments that tell me why I’m wrong). It’s always great to receive feedback and hear the voices of the Revolution faithful.
On top of that (and to add some self-promotion) - my podcast, Revolution Recap, had our greatest year on record in terms of number of episodes and listeners per show. So while soccer coverage is dwindling in some places, we have felt the love locally as we continue to grow.
So I’m grateful for YOU the reader (and/or listener) for supporting us throughout 2023 and I’m excited for 2024 and beyond.
Thank you all for the comments, insights and discussions. Very thankful for all of the writing and re-writing you've done all season long.
Thankful to all the staff on the Musket. Great stories all season keeping us informed great gob. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
