Stephen Turnbull Traded to Birmingham Legion
Defender played over 2,500 Minutes for RIFC in 2024
A key piece from the 2024 inaugural RIFC season left the Ocean State on Monday, as Stephen Turnbull was traded to Birmingham Legion FC for an undisclosed fee.
Turnbull started 31 games for RIFC, tied for fifth on the team, while logging three goals and three assists over 2,514 minutes. He was also tied for fourth on RIFC in chances created (27) and tied for second on the club in tackles won (46).
Despite being a key player for the squad through the majority of the season, Turnbull came off the bench in the 8-1 season final against Miami FC and the Quarterfinals against Indy Eleven, his last two appearances with the club. He suffered an injury shortly after coming into the Indy Eleven match, only playing four minutes during RIFCβs playoff run.
Turnbull had signed a multi-year contract for RIFC before the 2024 season. Previously, Turnbull had played for New York City FC, making 11 appearances in MLS, as well as New York City FC II in MLS Next PRO.
