The United States Men’s National Team appears to have finally found Gregg Berhalter’s replacement.
According to Iván Kasanzew, U.S. Soccer and Mauricio Pochettino have reached an agreement for the former Chelsea, PSG, and Tottenham head coach to lead the stars and stripes. Pochettino worked alongside current U.S. sporting director Matt Crocker at Southampton.
If the U.S. indeed lands Pochettino, it could mark the biggest head coaching signing in the history of the soccer federation. The head coach would also be the first full-time foreign head coach since Jürgen Klinsmann.
Ahead of the United States hosting the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico, this signing indicates that expectations will be high for the U.S. If Pochettino is able to lead the stars and stripes to a deep run, it will arguably be the biggest accomplishment of his coaching career.
