Rhode Island FC Sign Isaac Angking
Providence Native Could Become 1st Player to Play for Both RIFC and Revolution
Rhode Island FC announced on Tuesday the signing of midfielder Isaac Angking, the 24th player in the expansion club’s short history.
“Isaac is a talented midfielder and we’re excited to integrate him into our team,” said Rhode Island FC Head Coach and General Manager Khano Smith. “With international, USL and MLS experience, Isaac brings creativity and a good passing range. We couldn’t be happier to sign another local player from Rhode Island.”
The 24-year-old is a familiar name to soccer fans locally, as the Rhode Island native played four seasons with the New England Revolution Academy before signing an MLS contract with the first team and appearing in three games for the Revs in 2018.
Following a pair of loans to Charlotte Independence and Revolution II, Angking played with Columbus Crew II of MLS Next Pro in 2022, winning the MLS Next Pro championship in his lone season there.
In addition, Angking brings international experience with four goals in seven appearances for the Puerto Rico national team and several call-ups with the United States U-13 through U-20 squads.
Angking becomes the third former Revolution Academy product on RIFC’s inaugural roster, joining Kevin Vang and Joe Brito.
