Rhode Island FC Re-Signs Three Players
The Tide have re-signed Isaac Angking, Kevin Vang, and Amos-Shapiro Thompson.
Rhode Island FC has brought back an additional three players from its 2024 Eastern Conference winning squad. The Tide have re-signed Isaac Angking, Kevin Vang, and Amos-Shapiro Thompson.
Angking and Shapiro-Thompson both dealt with injuries that kept them out for the majority of the season. Angking appeared in eight matches scoring two goals and an assist before suffering an ACL tear while Shapiro-Thompson appeared in just three matches after dealing with a “severe knee injury.”
Vang, a Rhode Island native, also didn’t feature a lot for The Tide as he only appeared in three matches.
Now healthy, Shapiro-Thompson looks to have a larger role in 2025. With his pace and tenacity, he is an ideal defensive midfielder and showed some positive signs in his minimal minutes. Angking and Vang will look to earn minutes off the bench as Rhode Island is quite deep up front with the likes of Jojea Kwizera, Zachary Herivaux, Marc Ybarra, Noah Fuson, Clay Holstad, and Joe Brito.
