Revolution Winger Esmir Bajraktarevic Rumored to Represent Bosnia
Another Revolution player could be switching allegiances from the stars and stripes
After earning his first United States Men’s National Team cap, Esmir Bajraktarevic is rumored to make a switch that would see him represent Bosnia and Herzegovina on the international level.
America Soccer Now’s Brian Sciaretta reported that there are rumors that Bajraktarevic will make the switch to represent Bosnia. Keen eyes also noticed that he removed the American flag from his Instagram bio.
Bajraktarevic was named to the final pre-Olympic squad for the U.S. At the senior level, the winger has been capped once debuting against Slovenia on January 20. With the U.S. Olympic squad, Bajraktarević has made six appearances with one goal scored.
If Bajraktarevic was to utilize his one-time switch, it would be another massive departure for the U.S. Soccer pipeline that has also recently seen Obed Vargas decide to represent Mexico over the stars and stripes.
Honestly, I just like to see players go through our academy to national teams. It’d be sad to never see him play for the US again, but also idk if he’d play for the US anyways. They seem to have a pretty solid lineup right now and making a shift to play internationally is a good idea for him.
It’ll be fun to see where he goes and plays!
It will be the US loss.
