Revolution Sign Allan Oyirwoth
The highly-touted prospect joins the Revs following spells in Uganda.
The New England Revolution added depth to the midfield Wednesday morning when the club announced the signing of Ugandan midfielder Allan Oyirwoth.
Oyirwoth arrives in New England after developing with Ugandan clubs like MYDA FC, Amor Young Heroes, Pakwach Super Eagles, Mawokota, and Gomba.
When Oyirwoth turns 18 on January 23, the Ugandan midfielder will sign a contract through the 2028 season with a club option for 2029 that will see him occupy a spot on the supplemental roster.
Despite only being 17, the Amor, Pakwach, Uganda, native already has two caps with the Uganda senior national team.
“Allan is a talented young midfielder with a tremendous upside and I’m excited to help him reach his potential,” head coach Caleb Porter said. “At only 17, Allan is gifted technically and has a frame and range athletically that profiles well for MLS. With time to develop in our training environment, I’m confident he can blossom into an impact midfielder for our first team.”
The Revs now have a distinctly international flavor from top to bottom, as evidenced by this news, except at the coaching and ownership ranks, so while there should be ownership change, the second priority should be to get an African-based coach.
Porter is an American coach whose words and supervision have proven him inept at best, a liar at worst.
Be honest about the team you have assembled - they need a leadership structure whose word and actions they can trust, and it must come either with an African or South American pedigree.
This brings back memories of Joseph Niouky - hoping for a better result
