Revolution Recall Jack Panayotou From Rhode Island FC
The Revolution Homegrown returns following a short stint in the Ocean State.
Less than a month into his tenure, Jack Panayotou’s time in the Ocean State ended on Tuesday when the New England Revolution announced they had recalled the 19-year-old midfielder.
The Cambridge, Massachusetts native departed on loan to USL Championship newcomers Rhode Island FC on May 10th. Panayotou went on to start four matches for RIFC and tallied two assists.
The Homegrown midfielder rejoins the Revolution, who find themselves short in the wide midfield due to injuries to Tomás Chancalay and Nacho Gil, plus the international call-up for Esmir Bajraktarević.
Panayotou and the Revolution return to action on Saturday, June 8th, as they host the New York Red Bulls at 7:30 PM ET.
If he doesn't play meaningful minutes, this will be a sign of utter incompetence. He was playing well there, and pulling him back like this, unless he actually plays, can only hurt our relationship with a club that should be a good place for loaning youngsters and surplus player.
I’d like to think they aren’t recalling him just to languish on the bench. If Chancalay is going to be out any length of time then they’ll need him.
And it’s a great opportunity while he’s in playing form.
