Revolution Notebook: Player Availability And Big Brother Kessler
Here are some notes ahead of Sunday's game.
The New England Revolution host Toronto FC on Sunday at 2 pm. Here are some notes ahead of the game.
The Latest On Player Availability
The Revs will be without Giacomo Vrioni on Sunday as the striker is suspended for receiving two yellow cards against D.C. United.
On Saturday, head coach Caleb Porter provided an update on Carles Gil and Bobby Wood.
Regarding Gil, Porter said, “We're still evaluating that. I would say at this point because of the fact that he came out because he was tight that it's probably unlikely that he'll play, but we're still evaluating the situation.”
On Wood, Porter said, “Yes, potentially, Bobby Wood could be available.”
Here’s the player status report that was posted on Saturday evening.
Kessler Happy To Re-Sign With The Revs
Henry Kessler re-upped with the Revolution in Oct. 2023, ensuring that he’d be back for a fifth season.
“It’s great,” Kessler said of re-signing. “This is what I wanted, this is what the club wanted. I’m glad that we worked something out. It has been a few months now and it has been great. I’m happy to be where I am and I’m happy with the situation.”
Kessler made his 2024 competitive debut on Thursday when he played 45 minutes against Club Atlético Independiente. He could make his first league appearance on Sunday.
Kessler Is A Fan Of Esmir
Kessler was the first to call Esmir Bajraktarevic “the Milwaukee Messi,” a term I try to use as often as possible.
While I said that Kessler is kind of like Bajraktarevic’s hype man, Kessler views it differently
“Hype man? I would say like older brother. That’s how I would describe the relationship,” Kessler said. “But I’m a big fan. He has done really well. I think he’ll continue to do really well.”
