Revolution Notebook: Giacomo Vroni Buried On New England Depth Chart
On April Fool’s day at Gillette Stadium the New England Revolution blew a 1-0 lead in the 70th minute to come away with a disappointing 1-1 draw against I-95 rival NYCFC. With the draw, the Revs record moves to 4-1-1 thru six matches on the 2023 Major League Soccer season.
My main takeaway for the second consecutive week is this. Jozy Altidore and Bobby Wood remain above Designated Player Giacomo Vrioni on the depth chart for Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena. In the 73rd minute, with Wood being subbed off the field it felt like the perfect opportunity to give Vrioni some minutes. Instead, Arena opted for Altidore for the second consecutive week. Should we give this decision any thought?
