Revolution Loan Ryan Spaulding to Tampa Bay Rowdies
Spaulding, who had not appeared for Revs or Revs II, moves following the addition of Ben Sweat.
The New England Revolution has loaned defender Ryan Spaulding to USL Championship side Tampa Bay Rowdies for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season. Spaulding’s loan comes days after the Revs signed free agent left back Ben Sweat.
Spaulding joined the Revolution organization in January 2020 as he signed with Revolution II ahead of their inaugural season. Spaulding appeared in 43 contests for Revs II over two seasons, where he notched four goals and three assists over 3,496 minutes. During his time with Revs II, Spaulding received league honors as he earned a spot on USL League One’s All-League First Team in 2021.
After two standout seasons with Revs II, Spaulding progressed to the first team before the start of the 2022 MLS season. Spaulding bounced in between the first and second teams throughout the year as he ended 2022 with nine MLS and USOC appearances and ten MLS NEXT Pro appearances.
Spaulding joins a struggling Tampa Bay side, who hold a 1-3-2 record through their first six contests with a -4 goal-differential.
Great move for Spaulding. Hope he plays
Hope the move gives him playing time since he wasn't getting any here. Good luck Ryan.
