Report: Revolution "Unlikely" To Participate In 2024 U.S. Open Cup
It would mark the Revs first Open Cup absence since 2020 and 2021 editions were cancelled due to the pandemic.
Thanks to sources close to our own Sam Minton, we now know that the New England Revolution will likely not participate in the upcoming edition of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup competition.
Sources close to Minton said it was “increasingly unlikely” the New England Revolution would compete in the historic competition’s 109th competition.
This would mark the first time the Revolution has not competed in a US Open Cup since the 2020 and 2021 editions were canceled due to the pandemic. Through their 28-year history, the Revolution have participated in 20 editions of the tournament. Their best run came in 2007 when the club hoisted their first-ever USOC trophy.

Very disappointing news. I'd far prefer USOC to the idiotic greed-fest MLS/Liga MX brainchild that is Leagues Cup.
I say we all boycott the Leagues Cup in protest. In addition to the recent Supporters’ Shield, the only hardware in the Revs’ trophy cabinet is a US Open win in 2007 and a SuperLiga win in 2008, which was basically the failed previous incarnation of the Leagues Cup. Sad to see the league and the Revs turn their back on American soccer history.
