Report: Revolution Trigger Tomás Chancalay’s Purchase Option
The Argentine winger ended the 2023 campaign with six goals in 13 appearances.
Revolution fans will have one more thing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving as Tomás Chancalay’s tenure in New England will continue into 2024 and beyond, as journalist César Luis Merlo reports the club has exercised the purchase option on Chancalay’s loan.
Chancalay joined the Revs on July 10th on loan from Argentina’s Racing Club through the end of the 2023 season, with the option to extend the loan through June 2024. The winger had a productive half-season in New England as he ended the 2023 campaign with six goals over 13 appearances.
According to Merlo, $3,100,000 will be going to Racing Club in the deal, which means Chancalay would likely require a Designated Player tag due to the fee.
While it was highly likely to happen, activating the purchase option for Chancalay is a step in the right direction for the Revs as they look to put the woes of 2023 behind them.
