Report: Revolution Interested In Two Maccabi Tel Aviv Players
Could the Tel Aviv duo be walking through the Dor when the secondary transfer window opens?
We’re just over three weeks out from the start of what could be a pivotal secondary transfer window for this New England Revolution side.
Reports have indicated the club is interested in Ligat ha’Al side Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Dor Peretz and forward Dor Turgeman.
Raz Amir broke the news of New England’s interest in Turgeman Tuesday morning. While Amir states the Revolution are interested in acquiring the 20-year-old Israeli international, he adds that Turgeman “currently prefers options in Europe and not in the United States.”
Turgeman rose through Maccabi Tel Aviv’s academy before joining Beitar Tel Aviv on loan. The midfielder returned from his loan in June 2022 and has been with Tel Aviv ever since. Turgeman has appeared in 65 matches for Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he tallied 12 goals and three assists over 2,250 minutes.
On the international stage, Turgeman has appeared in six matches for the Israel senior team. He also has experience with Israel's youth system, where he notched seven goals in 32 caps.
Israeli outlet Sport5 first broke the news of interest in Peretz. The outlet tweeted that the Revs have interest in Peretz. It appears that the Revolution are not the only MLS side eying Dor Peretz as Raz Amir reported Austin FC also has interest in the 29-year-old midfielder.
Peretz started in Tel Aviv’s academy before ascending to the first team in 2014. 2017 saw the midfielder join Hapoel Haifa on loan before returning to Tel Aviv in June that year. July 21st, 2021 saw his tenure end when he joined Italian side Venezia on a free transfer. Peretz returned to Maccabi Tel Aviv in August 2022 and has been there since.
Peretz has appeared in 301 matches for Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he tallied 42 goals and 21 assists over 22,339 minutes. Like Turgeman, Peretz also featured on the international stage for Israel, where he tallied six goals in 48 caps. The midfielder also tallied four goals across 38 caps at the youth level.
Sources close to The Blazing Musket’s Seth Macomber confirm the Revolution have expressed interest in Dor Turgeman.
Getting either Peretz or Turgeman in would require the Revs to make some space, but if Caleb Porter is serious about making some changes, expect the Revs to be active come July 18th.
