Report: Revolution Acquire Brooklyn Raines
The 20-year-old midfielder reunites with Marko Mitrovic following spells in El Paso and Houston.
The Athletic’s Tom Bogert has reported that the New England Revolution have acquired midfielder Brooklyn Raines from the Houston Dynamo.
The 20-year-old midfielder arrives in New England after stints with USL Championship side El Paso Locomotive and the Dynamo. After arriving at the El Paso Academy from the Barcelona Residency Academy, Raines clocked 19 minutes in three appearances for the Locomotive during their 2021 campaign.
On February 4, 2022, Raines joined the Houston Dynamo after signing a Homegrown contract. Since joining Houston, Raines has split time between the organization’s first and second teams before becoming a regular fixture with the Dynamo in 2025.
Since 2022, Raines has tallied a goal and five assists in 37 appearances for Dynamo 2. He’s also tallied one goal and two assists in 61 appearances across all competitions for the Dynamo.
Raines reunites with former U.S. U-20 Head Coach Marko Mitrović, who managed him for 13 of his 18 caps for the U-20s. Most notably, Raines joined Peyton Miller as part of Mitrović’s roster for the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup tournament, where the U.S. went on a run to the quarterfinals before suffering defeat to Morocco.
On top of tallying two goals and an assist in 18 appearances for the U-20s, Raines also has four caps for the U-19s and two with the U-23s.
After solid efforts at the youth national team level, Raines found himself named a finalist for the U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year alongside Benjamin Cremaschi, Cavan Sullivan, Josh Wynder, and Mathis Albert.
Exact details of what the Revolution gave up to acquire Raines is unknown as of publishing.
